Default RE: Nailing down the infamous dead battery problem

My shaker only has this problem when playing mp3 cd's... Regular cd's don't cause it to go haywire... and it only happens at startup.

And i did have an MP3 cd in there.

Hmmm could be it.

Whenever i try to play the mp3 cd it always ejects it after failing to read it. then i reinsert it and it plays it fine. maybe theres a connection there.

Just be carefull, I tried to install an Optima battery and it was too tall, the hood pushed up a little when the hood was closed [&:]Had to return it and get a different battery. When I relocate the battery to the trunk, then I will get an Optima.

just wondering what size optima will fit
I plan on putting in a red Optima and a 160 Apm MSD alternator at some point
BTW I haven't had any power trouble
you should check the amps while running it see if the alternator is providing enough power to charge the battery

I called Optima and the person there said 34R was the size
I also E-mailed them and they said measurebecause that they don't have any listing for the size

AT WHAT POINT WILL FORD RECALL THE DAMN SKIPPER 500 HEAD UNIT???

You would would think that a major automanufacturer would figure out it is not good for business to have an electrical bug in one of its most popular cars that will randomly killcusomters' batteries...

My battery is charging as I type, this is the second time in the last 6 months that this has happened, both times after about a week of sitting in the garage. I had the alternator checked the first time and there were no problems there. I guess if this is the Shaker then that's another excuse to upgrade to the Pioneer AVIC-Z1

I also agree with elburrito99, if this is a common problem then Ford should do something!

My shaker works great. No problems with dead batteries. My 06 has been very reliable so far.

I had the dead battery problem with only a month old 07 and 5 days off. Turns out bad battery. But I don't have the Shaker just the base radio/CD.

I have an '06 with the Shaker 1000 and I regular cut it off with an MP3 CD playing. Typically, I drive the vehicle every week or two. Although, some times it sits in the garage (especially in the winter!) for as long as three weeks plus. Anyway, I've never had a dead battery since I bought the car 13 months ago. In fact, I've never had a problem with the Shaker 1000.

Same here. I have the shaker 1000 and have yet to have a problem. I do turn the radio off every time before shutting the car off.
