The strut mount replacement fixed my loose lumber rattle/chuckle. I did it myself after ordering the parts through the dealership.
Update: 7000 miles later, the loose lumber/chuckle was back with a vengeance. I decided to replace the gold stud strut mounts with a set of GT500 green stud mounts. I performed the replacement this weekend and it quieted it down but it is still there. I think I'm going to buy the steeda replacement strut mounts with the roller bearings. I'm tired of dicking around with cheap Ford parts with too much slop built in them. At least the Steeda mounts have high quality bearings.

Ford has now revised the gold stud mounts to black stud mounts. I purchased these yesterday. Same part # as the gold stud mounts, just a different color of the studs. Redesign maybe? See pics.

FIXED (again)! The TSB does work. I just hope the black stud Ford strut mounts last for more than the 7,000 miles that the gold stud mounts did. Lessons learned:
1) The GT500 mounts do not fix the thunk in the Mustang GT and V6 ($80 wasted).
2) The Steeda HD mounts do not fix the thunk ($300 wasted) but they do give you camber adjustability
Had to join to say thanks for the info! If you are still clunking, go check your front swaybar links NOW. Right now. Turn the stud on the strut end of the link w/a 5/16 wrench. If you're clunkin', I bet they're loose. Hold the stud still with the 5/16, and tighten the bejeezus outta the nut w/a 19mm wrench. Stud should NOT spin at all when you're done. Drop the car and drive around and enjoy the silence! You're welcome. Thanks for all the stang info!

Many have tried your "fix" without success. The only true fix may be a new set of strut mounts.

So by saying TSB, does that mean Ford covered the black stud? Mine does also. What about alignment afterwards? And mine isn't sway bar. My sway bars been gone since last February lol
