RE: April 15th Palms to Pines Twisty Run
Well, I was just told that the family is planning something for me that weekend since it'll be my bday on the 13th, so I won't be able to go...
I will DEFINITELY warn those of you who are going to end up in Downtown San Diego there on E St, *DO NOT LEAVE ANY VALUABLES IN THE CAR!* The local news station, KGTV News 10, just reported that the area surrounding Horton Plaza (of which this restaurant is directly across the street) is the number one place downtown for auto thefts and break-ins.
Oh, and expect to bring money to pay for parking; the only way you're parking down there is in the parking garage at Horton Plaza. There's no street parking, unless you want to feed a meter (and are lucky enough to find an empty parking space). If you guys DO go park in the parking garage, park on the top level of the garage, and notify security that you're all there. That way, they can keep an eye on your cars, because otherwise, some of you might be coming back to find the car missing.
Personally, I think that the restaurant the event coordinator chose wasn't the best location, as most of Downtown San Diego is meant more for foot traffic or public transit, but it is where it is...Just be careful going down there, when you exit the 94 freeway and hit a green light, keep your speed at 30 mph or just under that (the lights are timed; if you're traveling that speed, you should hit every single light green).
I hope you guys all have fun on the cruise, and keep an eye out for the flat head screwdriver shaped building (Hyatt Regency Hotel), the phillips head screwdriver shaped building (One America Plaza), and the building shaped like allen wrenches (Emerald Wyndham Plaza) in the downtown San Diego skyline...
