People love my car but when they ask if I have a 5.0 and I reply a 4.6 they look disappointed. Really can't this new engine do circles around the stock 5.0? Why did Ford go the the 4.6 if they didn't want too. A person at work explained to me that the 5.0 was faster off the line than the 4.6 but however slower on the top end. Anyone like to reply?

Dude, imagine a 3v 4.6 in a fox body [sm=icon_rock.gif]
5.0 = 205 hp 275 lbs tq (say its 225 all you want but Ford changed the way the did power measurement and thats all the power they were really making)
99- '04 4.6 = 260 hp 302 tq
'05 3v GT = 300 hp 320 tq
also, the ohv 4.6's rev higher than the pushrod 5.0's, allowing for more aggressive gearing which equals more torque to the ground and faster acceleration.
You could always just put a 5.0 badge on there and say "yeah!" After all, stock for stock you should be able to take the 5.0s and the 4.6 2Vs....if they are asking, they obviously would not know the difference anyway.
Yeah...the previous posts indicated stock. Mod'ed, I won't argue. Besides...saying 5.0 is much cooler/funner then saying 4.6. Feel like a tard everytime I tell someone mine is a 4.6 Might get a 5.0 just so I can say it. Yeah, it's envy. [&:]
