I've never tasted ram's piss, but the way you describe it, it must be delicious. Especially when it's hot outside and the piss is ice cold. But I digress, back to the rebuild please.

Wes got back late last night! This means we will be able to continue!! Woot woot!

I have a secret.

I was debating whether or not I was going to release the information here but something happened to the car. It was more excessive than I had originally thought and has set us back at least 2 full days of work, if not more.
The problem with me releasing this information is that I didn't want to show the mistake Wes made since he is doing me such a huge favor. But since people are really wanting an update I'll share the tale with you. No pics I'm afraid.

Last week I was out working on the car and we had just finished sanding the primer and everything was silky smooth. Wes continued working on the car the next day without me. He called me later in the day to say his power had gone out for a couple hours. He also mentioned something he would have to tell me later. I wrote this off as no big deal. Since Wes was gone for awhile, I didn't go out to work on the car right away. But when I did make arrangements to go out to do some minor stuff, my mom asked me if Wes had told me what he did to the car??? Hrmmmm? What?? No he did not! She didn't really know exactly what happened so I just rushed out to see for myself.
It turns out that next morning Wes was ready to put on the last coat of primer, which is a sealer primer that is designed to be a shade of grey that is appropriate for what ever your base color is. Wes had mixed up the paint and went to work on the doors and fenders and such. BUT....he had grabbed the wrong can of paint!!! Instead of the primer, he used the black paint that was intended for the stripes!!!
I get there and THE CAR IS FREAKING BLACK AGAIN!!!!
He realized his mistake once he started on the body and was able to wash most of the paint off the main body of the car. The doors and fenders are still black though. Everything will need to be sanded back down again and probably touched up with the sandable primer again.

Everyone makes mistakes and I would never hold anything against Wes. He was trying to get things to a point where we would be able to finish the job right after he got back and he rushed things a bit. But we'll recover and get things done right.

So there you go! That's the big secret.

The plan this week is for Wes to start sanding again and then I'll be out on Thursday and Friday to make sure everything is perfect again before painting the base. I'll be out of town this weekend so I don't think Wes will start the base coat till I get back. Mainly because we have to put the stripes on the hood within a short time after the base coat and I want to be there to do that.
I'm hoping we can be done by the following weekend.

I'd go into a big speil about the car being cursed but I don't really believe in that kinda crap.

I think you should namethe car TheGolden Phoenix. You said it came from AZ....could be Phoenix but at least in the same geographical region, plus the double entendre of the legends of phoenixes rising from the ashes to be reborn. Kinda fits what your car has been through plus where it came from originally. Just a thought.

i think the phrase double entendre works better when one of the meanings is risque or sexual......but im sure we know what you mean

Watch "Beerfest", then you will understand where the joke comes from.

Not to be the grammar police but.....it doesn't have to have one of the interpretations being risque.

You must be thinking of that other frenchphrase we use in english "Ménage Ã* trois" LOL [sm=joke.gif]

dou·ble en·ten·dre
Spelled Pronunciation[duhb-uhl ahn-tahn-druh, -tahnd; Fr. doo-blahn-tahn-druh]

1. a double meaning.

2.a word or expression used in a given context so that it can be understood in two ways, esp. when one meaning is risqué.

Now back to our regularly scheduled Restoration.....

(Edited to fix spacing issues in c/p dictionary definitions)

Speaking of Katrina.... Unfortunately for Dank, he can't just sit around waiting for a government check! And I applaud him for taking the initiative and putting in such hard work.
