Any extra feature is a plus. That's why you pay more for features. And the navigation system is built into the radio not sitting on your dash looking bad.
The problem with a manufacture (Ford, GM, Chrysler) installed navigation unit is that it can't be 'changed' while the car is in motion due to liability issues. With the Garman for instance, the destination can be changed by the user while the car is in motion. This is a nice feature if you are traveling and want to find a Starbucksor an Outback while on your way to where ever. Also, the Garman can be moved and used in any car you have.
For under $300.00 you can get a Garman that is twice as good as any factory unit.

RE: Itching for GT, Navigation & Ambient lighting but
Navigation is a easy option to add. You can get a pioneer d3 and have it built in and it will be better then the factory unit (which is also made by pioneer). The ambient lighting is cool, but could probably also be added after market. The GT performance is nice and the gas milage isn't that much worse. It all comes down to how much you want to spend. Problem with changing cars is depreciaton kills you. Get a blower for your v6 it will go plenty fast then.

RE: Itching for GT, Navigation & Ambient lighting but
I was in the same boat as you, last October (06) on the spur of the moment I bought an Silver 06 V6 with 0% Financing.I put an aftermarket stereo, take off power leather seats, CAI, tune, & wheels, still wasn't happy with the car. Early one morning in August I stoppedby the dealeron my way to workto look at a Shelby GT they had on the lot, with no intention of buying anything. I figured it was good time to look as they weren't even open yet. Well the sales manager was in early and we got to talking, he ran the numbers andI ended leaving that day with 07 GT with every option 0% financing and my payment went up $75.00 a month.I get better gas mileage with the GT and my insurance went up $3.00 a month, I love my new GT and don't regret my decision at all.

I just bought a V6 Silver Stang last September and very happy with it. I added a drop in K&N Filter and single FlowMaster muffler and....quiet car coating to the wheel wells and trunk for a quieter ride. Would love to have that V8 power at my tips but I bought the Silver Stang with a traded in 2003 Mustang and 0% financing and if I do the V8 with the extras it's going to be 25-33,000.00. No 0% financing now and the payment would be 400-550.00. Not to mention higher gas costs and insurance. Still want it though. Just venting, anybody else with a V6 having the same wants?

I don't think you're alone, I believe that most, if not all "Mustang Enthusiasts" with a V6 really wish deep down inside that they had a GT. They may not admit it bit I'll bet there is a "I could've had a V8" followed by a slap on their forhead when they see a nice GT go by

I would think the difference in gas mileage and insurance would be negligable. Don't let that hold you back. If you can swing it financially, go for it! You only live once. Thats what I'm thinking about, but I have a GT already. I bought an auto, and now I will be making payments for the next 5 years on a car I really like, but not love, I'm not 100% in love with it. While I can now, I'm looking to trade in my car for an '08 manual..if I get enough on trade- in.
An ex co worker of mine was dying to get a GT in '05 when they were really hard to get, and he got a V6 instead. He really, really wanted the GT, and you could hear it in his voice that he was trying to convince himself that the V6 was "good enough" for him. A year later, he finally traded it in on a GT, and has been thrilled since!
