There is an antenna adapter some have to buy. Sounds like you are one of them. Goto Best Buy and grab one.

Is this how you have it?

7805 from Radioshack

"To fix this, you must put this regulator (7805 from Radioshack)
Wire the System Remote Control wire from the Kenwood Harness to the input of the regulator
And the 2 Blue/White wires from the small Metra Harness both go to the output
The middle of the regulator is for the ground.

^ for some reason, I cannot see any pictures posted from a desktop (I can only see photobucket etc. images).. but thanks for the tip. I'll have to go to bestbuy and grab one of those. As for the regulator, I wired it backwards, as I had read that it was originally incorrect, but I guess not . I will switch that back and hopefully all of my problems will be fixed.
Here is my oem antenna (sorry for iphone pic) - orange cable w/ black head

And the kenwood adapter is much longer and they definitely don't fit together

oh and btw I got a kenwood dnx6140 I think.. is bypassing it hard to do? I grounded the parking wire but nothing else

I still get this popping noise on my Kenwood DNX5120 (I think this is the correct model). Does anyone know if I need the regulator (I have the shaker 500 too)? I tried switching the blue wires from output to input on the regulator as well but still no luck. I may have connected the wrong wire since I can't remember if I found a "system remote control" wire on my kenwood, but i remember using a blue/white wire from the kenwood that said something like amp power or something. Is this the wrong wire to use? Thanks for all the help guys.
