Default Warning Steeda Carbon Fiber Inlet Tube

Just want to let people who have the Steeda Carbon Fiber inlet tube know that mine decided to warp. The part on the inlet tube that connects near the throttle body metled in under theclamp. I fixed it by using a blow dryer on high then bent it back into position. Will see how it goes now. Just a heads up.

Was the warping/melting noticeable without disassembly? Could you simply open the hood andsee it? And, I'm wondering if that's a sympton of overtightened clamps.

I wanted to have one installed at my dealer about a month ago, but the head of the parts dept. (Ford Racing) told me that he'd heard of a few cracking as well, and advised me not to do it.

I could not see it when the hood was open. I was trying to make the heat shield fit better with my hood so I pulled the CAI out to dremel down the heat shield and saw it. I could feel under the clamp where it warped. It didn't tighten it to hard. I mean you go until its really tight then one nothing I would consider overtightened.

That's why I went with the Saleen tube instead.

To me it looks better, can't bend/warp/crack, and attaches securely.

Plus it will be a perfect fit if I decide to go with the Saleen supercharger [8D]

damnit! I had my heart set on getting that one (Steeda CAI w/carbon fiber elbow) next month when I go for install/dynotune. I do remember reading about the black plastic elbowwarping and figured the carbon fiber would be more sturdy. Guess not. But thanks for the heads up -may have just saved me from going postal on someone.

Yeah it's kinda depressing for 200 dollars I expected it to withstand heat. I mean a few seconds of high with the blowdryer is enough to bend the plastic any way you want so it's really NOT heat resistant at all. If this doesn't work looks like i'll be going back to the saleen inlet tube good thing I didn't sell it yet.
