Default Mac Axleback Exhaust

Has anyone seen these. They are beautiful chrome with good looking tips. But I have no idea on their sound or performance. Either way I'm sold on them. They are available through www.partshopper.com By the way they have a picture on them at the Black Mustang Club site.

Love em. Been trying to win them on ebay but I'm too cheap so far. They're actually polished stainless steel. Supposed to be some power gain but not much from the axle back. I've heard MAC's on several stangs, 5.0 and 4.6, and they always make very nice exhaust notes.

Before I take the plunge would somebody with the serious engine knowledge like casper enlighten me or these? Or they worth 320 dollars? Or should I just leave good enough alone? I really like the mufflers but what the heck do I know. I know I don't like the flowmasters or magnaflow; heck they look the same to me. Anyway hoping to hear from someone please write.

None of the axle back systems are worth the money if you are doing it for performance. Only thing you are going to get is a different exhaust note.

The 05's are a unique beast. You can get performance gains from exhaust, but you are going to have to do something more radical than an axle back change to get those gains.

With all the mustang experts out here that are at our disposal I was just like an honest answer. I don't have lots of money but I know that the stock muffler is just to quiet. I'm spending more money on gas just so I can hear it. So I want a muffler that is louder yet not weaker on performance. This doesn't mean more , it just means the same. I love the Mac exhaust system. They are tucked away neatly underneath and are casted in shiney chrome metal. If someone would answer my millon dollar question than great if not I am going to order them anyway. The slp I think will hurt in the performance area considering they are just running straight out the back. But as I said before I'm not the expert. Hell the slps' are cheaper thats for sure.

So are you wanting me to purchase the mufflers and beat you with them to get you to actually read the freakin responses? Please, enlighten me. What part of "no performance gains from an axle back system" confused you?

Or maybe you are thinking everyone here is clarivoiant and actually knows what sounds good to you....

I think you need to just take a deep breath, and calm down.

SLP's are not gonna hurt your performance, there is no restriction in the air-flow...I had them on for a while but my wife hated them so I had to put my JBA's back on...they were just too loud for her...I personally loved the sound, very aggressive sounding when you got on it and and a nice low roar at cruising speeds....don't know anything about MAC....sorry
