Whats it cost to have cams installed? Parts and labor?
From what SuttonHP quoted me, its $739 for the cams, $480 for the install, $300 for the tuning. Plus it would be a good idea at that point to have charge motion deletes installed. $139 for parts and another $120 in labor. So your looking at a little over $1,800 after tax. Its a bit higher than Brenspeed's Comp package but its a totally different sound. Well worth it if the car really sounds like that.
I have to imagine FordRacing's engineers thought of all the possible consequences in designing the cam to work with stock springs. Not to say theirs a genuine concern, from a buyers perspective. But I would trust FordRacing over BBR, Comp, or other aftermarket vendors simply cause FR has intimate knowledge of the 3v motor design and its limitations.
Those Comp Stage 4's, or even a Stage 3 will require a spring change. That alone will run $1,500 to $2,500 in just labor depending where you take it. Plus Comps just don't have the same lumpy idle as the BBRs or Cranes or Crowers.

Hi ffk_pennywise,
For an NSR car the installlabor is FREE! Find some experienced help and do it yourself in your garage! You only need two sort of unusual tools which you can order online or at the Ford dealerhip, the rest are common hand tools.
HTH!

But I've been fooled before.
Hey doc,
At those prices come to my house and I'l do your installation! They are charging you like you're someone theydon't likeor somesort of criminal or something. GEEZUS! An NSR cam install must take all of 4 hours once you've done it before and $300 for a tune they are going to pull out of their SCT value tables? What a rip! O.K. $140 for the CMCV delets is full list and the labor time might be 90 minutes of so, at least that's what it took me to do it the first time sight unseen. Maybe it was because mine wereFRPP's for $85 I don't know.
Regarding cam ramp profiles I'm pretty sure that Comp has Ford beat hands down seeing how this is all they have been doing for the last 30+ years or so. Comp knows more about cam profiles than just about anybody on the planet! Comp's cam profiles are easier on the stock springs with lower lift, have better idle and still managed to produce equal or betternumbers than the Ford sticks. Why do you think that is, luck?I don't think so. Chances are that Ford just looked aroundfor somebody to partner with and justsigned off on them and just relabled the boxes with the FRPP logo and part numbers like they do with most of the S197 parts they sell. Not that there is anything wrong with it but they should not act like they are busy making them, the hold up is probably getting packaging and labling that meets Ford shipping specs at the right price.

Cheers!
