Default RE: Hidden CB Radio

They also make CB antennas that look like cell phone antennas, but I don't know what type of range they have.

Edit: The type you stick on the glass of the rear window.

Default RE: Hidden CB Radio

A cb antenna needs to be attached to as much metal as possible to get a good ground plain.
There are (were) several magnet mounts that could take different length antennas. Make sure you get a tunable antenna so you don't fry your radio. Keying up the mic without a properly grounded antenna is bad.
Handheld CBs are worthless in a car, as you would have to drive with the window down and the antenna extended all the way. The popular walkie talkies that you see used a lot aren't CBs and don't transmit on the CB frequencies. They are only good between 2 cars that are next to each other.

+1 to everything that grass racer has said ()...

when i had my truck.. i had a wilson 3000.. great antenna.. but a little will with the magnetic mount would be perfect.. even considering it for my car since i still have my $120 cobra 29 like new sitting in the garage..

miss the PA too [&o]... but who knows.. maybe ill wire up something so i can have it where it hooks up easy and be able to take it/out and use it for road trips as well..

but i do wish i could hide the antenna as well.......

HAHAHHAHAHA i looked up the list of posters for grass racer, then i realized it... DAMN you really read my posts haha.... i was at the airstrip last weekend. but didnt run the stang though haha u got a good memory though

i'd like the functionality of a CB but don't want the ant. to detract from the looks, only need a couple mile range since its for road trips
I would not put a Cobra CB behind the bumper cover as it is
NOT WATERPROOF and the controls would be impossable to
reach from the drivers seat and the mic cord would not be long
enough to reach into the passenger compartment.

Jam it inbetween the center console and the drivers or passengers seat.
Get a 2 guage dash guage pod and cut it out to match the faceplate
of your CB and put it on the dash. Hang it from the overhead center console.

The best way to mount a CB antenna on a Stang is one of the better
quality Thru-The-Glass antennas from Antenna Specialists.
Receiving can be done with a wet noodle or the actual body of the stang.
Actually transmitting on the CB frequencies of 27-28Mhz is another story.
The 31" FM antenna can also be used but a matching box is needed
to get the antenna to take the power and have the impedences match
and the SWR to be low enough to transmit.
