Default Any input about CMCV delete plates?

I've done a little bit of looking into some CMCV delete plates and and curious if anyone has some first hand experience with them and would like to share any information or tips with me.

Go for it. The stock ones with the valves will limit your top-end HP depending on your mods.

You'll gain a little top-end power, but lose a little low-end torque. If you're going from a stock setup, then you probably won't notice the loss in low-end torque because a new tune will usually comphensate for it. You'll also lose some fuel economy. Don't bother with the $300 billet set, they aren't any better than the cast ones. If you can find them used, that's probably the best deal because for $140 new there are better mods that you can do. If you ever plan on getting a roots or twin-screw supercharger they will be useless after that because the supercharger will replace them.

ok not too mechanically inclined yet, what exactly are the delete plates compared to stock, how hard to install, how much and how much performance gains? with a bama 93 race tune

Charge motion control valves are a set of small butterfly valves that sit in each intake runner. Their purpose is to disrupt air and create a more turbulent air flow to promote better low end torque and fuel economy. The valves open up completely at around 3000rpm to allow the intake to flow freely. The cross section of these valves does create a slight obstruction in the intake runner. There for, removing these valves allows air to flow more freely and thus giving you more power in the higher revs.

They are not that hard to install, I was able to install them in about an hour and I consider my skills to be slightly higher than novice. I'd say you're looking at gains between 6-8whp.

When I installed mine afterwards my car wouldnt start. I thought they were the problem so I took them off. I did this a couple times and I got to the point where I took them off and put them on in about 10 minutes. very very very easy and straight forward. My TB was the problem.[:@]

I didn't seem to lose anything down low. It's all in the tune. Go for it. It's a cheap easy mod. While you're going to have the intake off, might as well do underdrive pullies, too, to get the best gain, if you don't already have them.

I installed my UDP at the same time as my delete plates. I also upgraded from a canned Diablosport tune to a Bamachips race tune. I'd say I picked up around 15-17hp between the three.

Thanks for all your help guys! Right now my last dyno put my at right under 290whp, but I really want to break the 300whp mark. I've thought about underdrive pulleys, but I'm not sure how complicated that install is. I'm confident I can change the CMCV's with no problem though. I'm fairly new to the tuning world (hence professional tune/dyno) but I'm assuming I'll need to take it in again and have the tune adjusted for either of those. I suppose after this I'm pretty much done with the "less expensive" work.

or you can do what i did, I got my factory charge motion plates, removed the butterflies and had a aluminum welder weld the little holes shut, dont know if its cost effective on the welding part but my friend did it for free, great mod by the way DO IT!!!
