I just drove a the new Lancer Mr. My fiancee's brother is the editor for import tuner and he gets to test drive all sorts of new cars. Well last night I took the evo for a spin. All I can say is wow! The paddle shift is super smooth and precise, must faster than a human shifting manual. (the new Skyline GTR is paddle shift also). I took off redlining all gears on the freeway on ramp with precise shifting (had my foot floored on the pedal whole time). The car pulled real hard with no lag and I also had 3 other people in the car. The power was very smooth with no turbo lag. I then went through twisty corners all out and I was in full control! Never felt sketchy at all! I was very impressed. I was gunning the car through corners real hard and there is no way i was going to spin out!; This car is dummy proof! Now I know why EVo owners think they are the ****! Cause there is no way you can mess up with the all wheel drive beast! No way you can miss shift with the paddle shifter, it is super fast! I was hitting turns in the hillsgoing about 60 to 70mph all out and felt in full control if no tire squeak. This car has some electronic aWD thing were there is no way to spin out. I could very well take this car to the track bone stock and kill everyone. I was smiling the whole night very impressed!
If i had drove my car I would off road off the cliff and died. I am very impressed with the evo's AWD system. When i drive my car I feel out of control!I wish I would of drove my car that day so we could of lined em up. Maybe a freeway race to see what the evos got. I still think i can pull on that car on the freeway but i really dont think by that much (should be really close). Either way I am very impressed with the new EVO MR. Mad respect is given where it is deserved.

Pff, i want to see someone outlaunch that thing. I want launch control
Your car + FAT slicks + 5 Min burnout + 5k Dump. [8D]
Its just that those cars are just so computerized now. No way you can mess up in a launch with those cars but with a lot of HP in the mustang and FAT slicks we can pop a wheelie on those suckers
RE: 2009 Lancer Evo MR compared to my whippled Stang
The technology in those cars is very impressive. There's just no debating how well it works. The ONLY issue I have that is related to those cars is the arrogance of some of the owners.
Sure they have a right to be proud of their cars but there is NO excuse for arrogance.
RE: 2009 Lancer Evo MR compared to my whippled Stang
Evo's aren't about going fast in a straight line - a whippled GT should be able to beat a Evo X handily... heck even a stock GT can probably beat it to 60 and at least keep up in the quarter mile.
But around a track or curvy road there's hardly ANYTHING better than an Evo.
Purpose of the cars are completely different, even VW Rabbits feel more stable blasting around turns at 70mph than a GT.
RE: 2009 Lancer Evo MR compared to my whippled Stang
mhmm one of my best friends has an 06 MR....If he knew how to shift and drive it better i would definitely be worried. But since he doesnt i can pull on him in a straight line, and even going around the twisties in the hills because he doesnt know how to heel toe so he comes out in a way low gear....But those cars pull like a porsche carrera 4, with only have the pricetag
