I have a 2005 with the Shaker 1000. The other day, I went to eject a cd, and it made some noises it shouldn't make. The player jammed up and now nothing comes in or out. The screen just says cd error. Even worse, when I get out of the car, the player contunues to make this poping and grinding noise over and over all night. The car is out of warranty but is there anything Ford can do. Am I stuck with it?
I've always been disappointed with it. It regularly skips and spits out cds.

i think the only things covered for longer than 36months is powertrain and that is only since ford starting giving cars away. i think all the 07's and 08's have 5/60k on the powertrain with the factory warranty(bumper-to-bumper) 3/36k.

Maybe you could remove a fuse to stop the madness. The question is, "Which fuse?" If you have your Owner's Guide, that might give you a clue.
I have a 2007, but I don't know if that is the same as the 2005 in the fuse department. Even then, I am confused by the terms.
Fuse location 20 (10A) in the passenger compartment fuse box is called Radio (Start), whatever that might be.
In the under the hood fuse box, fuse location 6 (30A) is a rear amplifier for the Shaker 1000, as is fuse location 9 (30A). I don't see how these would affect your problem, but just in case...
Also in the under the hood fuse box is fuse location 16 (30A). This is called Front amplifier (Shaker 500 radio). I think that this might also be applicable to the Shaker 1000, even though the manual does not say so.
Also in the under the hood fuse box is fuse location 56 (20A). This is called Radio, SDARS, whatever the heck that is.
Good luck!

This might sound dumb, but I had a similar problem with my Shaker 10000 when my car was brand new. It made the same grinding noise and would not eject the cd. I gave up on trying to fix it and planned to take it to the dealership the next day. I accidentaly left the lights on inside completely draining the battery overnight. The next day, I charged the battery and as soon as I turned the key the cd popped out and it's worked fine ever since. I still took it in to have the shop take a look and they couldn't find anything wrong with the system.
I'm sure mine was just pure luck but unhooking the battery might be worth a shot??

somewhere, there is a thread that talks about removing the dash; if you follow those instructions to a point, you will be able to remove the factory headunit; it's actually not that hard to do
**found the instructions (its a tacobill write-up ) http://www.mustangforums.com/forum/s...d.php?t=276556
just follow the instructions until right before it talks about removing the a-pillar trim. when you get to that point, undo the screws holding the radio inplace and you will be able to take it out

Your stuck with it!!! I however..just happen to have a factory refurbished unit to replace my original one that has never been installed. I went with an aftermarket Pioneer Avic-D3 system instead

Killing the power to the radio will reset it and usually kick out the cd that is stuck inside!

lol...just kidding...you need to get it to the dealer and see what they will do for you. I've never had those kind of problems out of either one of mine, and that would suck bad.
