Ok, so Ive been doing some research...

Flowmaster 10 series (1 chamber race muffler) look like they would be my choice. There small, Lighter than the 40's and would fit even better and most of all they are LOUD.

It would sound perfect with a stock h pipe and cats...

The volume level should be less than loudmouths, and possibly slightly less than boom tubes (it wouldn't be far off though)

I think my design would work tho, it would be a one chamber design with a single deflector...

Your on the right track... Forget about that tuning nonsense, people build custom exhausts all the time. Besides, when a company releases a product for a particular car, many times its a standard muffler, and the only thing custom about it is the piping... The mufflers have a lot of RnD invested in them, but in a lot of cases they use the same ones for different cars.

Please do it !!! 1 chamber Flowmasters are so cheap! I wont be able to do this for another few months!

And Tomb, why the hostility? If it wasn't for people like 1morepart trying new things and being original , a lot of us wouldn't be where we were and mustangforums would be a really boring place.

1morepart, if the Stang isn't garaged for the winter how about some new better recorded sound clips, that otta silence the skeptics!

Mid mount ftw!

Anyone have the dimensions for the Macs, vs flow 40s?
thanks for the comments..as far as tomb goes, his "comments" are always the same. i stepped out of the box and i have had overwhelming success with the 40 series mid mount and o/r h........the shop that i gave credit to, in georgia, has been flooded with calls from every forum that i know of.......i wil get some better sound clips real soon. like i mentioned before, my c5 vette is getting a make-over and i am working on the motor which was pulled out with the help of a corvette guru........for those that want to see the c5 and gt together in my garage, i will try to upload a pic in my album...... joolander(sorry if i mispelled), shalom and mazel tov.....

I honestly dont get the appeal of the flows......they are sooooooo overrated imo. I think the flowpaths have more of that classic "mustang sound"

another question....I have an X pipe on my mustang with a pypes MM and I wondering if it would be possible to make a custom single muffler as a crossover and remove the two M-80s from the car...so basically chop out the box that is the cross over and put it in a custom crossover with muffler guts basically..

Its possible... However the design of x pipes and H pipes are ment to cause exhaust sacavenging and balance between the two pipes while retaining proper flow and back pressure...

I think a pro chamber is what your looking for, they sound great too...

I agree that Macs sound better on these cars than flows. I dont think flows are overrated, just overdone... However they don't have that signature sound as much on the 3V. Macs are deeper.
