I'd like to see remote radar detectors become more reasonably priced. No reason they should routinely cost 3x as much as ordinary form-factor detectors.

Heck, I'm half way motivated to tear my escort apart and try to fabricate my own remote radar detector - something where all you see is the LED or LCD display popping up over the steering column or some other inconspicuous place.

ive got one for sale for less than some of the high end "dash mount" units. K-40 calibre bluetooth with 2 sensors, 2 laser diffusers, control unit, remote, speaker, and blue led lights. and it detects/diffuses laser signals.

p.m. if interested.

the sensors use bluetooth to communicate to the control unit. all you need to do is connect the sensors to power and ground, conncet the control unit to power and ground, turn it on, sync the control unit with the sensors and your up and running.

it's also remote opperated, meaning you use a remote to switch between city/highway, control volume, and set the warning style to lights only, voice only, or voice and lights.

it's really a sweet setup. i need the cash so i have to part with it.

here's a link to k-40's website --- http://k40.com/cali_main.html

check it out.

I am considering one of these http://www.amazon.com/Whistler-Fuzio...1295648&sr=8-1, but don't want to sacrifice form over function. for function, I would like to get a escort x-50, but if I knew that this Fuzion performed 85% or closer to the escort, I would buy it for the spare hole I have in my dashpod.

I think last months Motor Trend had a short article about a group of people out there that are constantly updating a database of where cops are sitting. You can get the updates free to your phone. I know this isn't the best solution as cops move but it would at least give you an idea where the cops might be in an unfamiliar area. As for me I use a BEL Pro X65. I bought it on ebay but it was still pricey.
