Default SCT Livewire problem on S197 Mustangs

Does anybody else with a S197 Mustang have a problem reading trouble codes with their SCT Livewire? I have the latest firmware version on my Livewire (1.1.286) and it will not read DTC from my car. I've called SCT about the issue and all they will say is that they're working on a fix, but being that it's been over a year since the last update I doubt that.

Does anybody with a Livewire NOT have this problem? If so, what firmware version are you running.

SCT released a new firmware update for the Livewire yesterday, 1.1.292. The firmware includes an update to read codes from 05+ F150s and Mustangs and also to resolve an issue in the device when using saved settings.

Hopefully this fixes the problems I've been having.

UPDATE:

I loaded the new firmware version up, and now when I go to check for codes it just freezes the whole unit. YOU SUCK SCT...

First off let me just say I appologize for the "SCT SUCKS" comment. I do appreciate what SCT does for the aftermarket community.

I have called, and I have sent emails regarding my problems before. I'm just getting very frustrated with the level of quality with my device. version 1.1.292 is the third firmware revision that was released to fix the same problems. How exactly does SCT test their code for these devices?

Right now, I have both a SCT and Diablosport tuner. The SCT tuner is locked to my car, while I have to use the Diablosport tuner to pull codes. Luckily, I ironed out the problems I was having with my tune so I no longer need the Diablosport for now.

The latest release was supposed to fix reading DTC's from Mustangs, again. I plugged the Livewire into my car and went to read the codes. Being that my car has no codes right now I was expecting to see a screen saying just that. Instead I given a screen full of garbage and had to reboot the Livewire.

I'm getting sick and tired of companies release products full of bugs and problems, and just because they can be user upgraded this has become acceptable.

For what it's worth though, I have had a better time with SCT customer support than Diablosport.

Hi,
You along with one other person have reported the gibberish when trying to read codes. This does not happen on our livewire's in house on mustangs here. If possible, give us a call at tech support so we can schedule an RMA. We'd like to get your exact tuner to SCT to see what is different. 866-297-6298. Just let the tech you are talking to know that you have a "gibberish livewire when reading codes".

If anyone else has this issue please let us know (by calling), because as stated currently there are only 2 known customers with this issue.

Mike
