Default Cant get Mobil 1... used Valvoline full synthetic. Any good?

Ok so I havent been able to get the 5qt jug of Mobil 1 at walmart over near my house for a while and I have been putting off chaning my oil. Today I went ahead and changed my oil with some valvoline full synthetic. Is this stuff any good or should I change it after 3k miles like normal oil? It was only like 21 for a 5qt bottle of it. I guess I am a Mobil 1 fan boy or something but I was just wondering and wanted to make sure its not bad oil. Thanks!

It's fine stuff. Valvoline I think was the company that recently ran some ads saying it had 4x better wear protection than Mobil 1 5W30. Caused quite the stir over on bobistheoilguy.

Think I should run it for the normal 5k I do with Mobil 1?

If it's the full synth I wouldn't think twice about doing that.

Ought to be fine. Whether or not its better than Mobil1 is probably splitting hairs.

Valvoline synthetic should certainly be fine for 5000 miles. Just be sure that your oil filter is rated for at least 5000 miles.

Yeah I haven't seen that five quart jug for awhile now either. I hear that Costco has them, though. To be honest though, Wal-Mart did my last oil change with Mobil 1 and it cost only like $45 for five quarts and all the other stuff they usually do. I paid another $10 for the Mobil 1 oil filter.

I believe the new Roush sytnh oil is actually Valvoline (don't qoute me )
I switched from Mobil 1 to Royal Purple. I heard so much about the stuff I thought I'd give it a try. I swear I do feel a difference, so much that I think I'm going to stick with it. Yes it's more expensive, but my investment is worth it. Try it once, you can always go back. (this is not an add )
