Default FRPP Cams Installed This weekend with Video.

EDIT 5/25/2009

Here is a video comparing all three exhaust setups.
1. stock cams w/ stock manifolds
2. frpp cams w/ stock manifolds
3. frpp cams w/ JBA LT Headers

Original Post Continues below:

Got the FRPP Hot Rods installed in a friends car this weekend and I put together a before and after video.

The car was not tuned yet in the video.

Offroad Mac X
JBA Axlebacks
Stock Manifolds.

I'll make another video as the Long Tubes are being installed today.

I am interested to hear the difference the headers make in the sound too.

EDIT: 4/12/2009 Same Car recorded with a different camera. Sound difference is amazing.

No surprisingly it idles fine without a tune...but keep in mind it was already tuned for a GT500 TB, Delete Plates and a JLT. He never got on it...taking it easy reduce risk of causing problems.

The headers go on today and then it goes to get tuned.

I'll make another vid adding a 3 comparison sound.

Well...

This friend of mine works as a mechanic for RUF Auto Centre in Dallas,TX. They are like the Saleen of Porsche. He is a mustang fiend and has a lot of contacts in the industry. He is unfamiliar with these new motors and chose to let his builder install the cams.

The reasoning behind this was, the tools from ford to do this yourself (the timing chain wedge and the other tool) cost about $250 or so.

He bought the cams for $750 and his engine builder installed them for $300 bucks in like 3 hours.

I would not use this example as a benchmark for pricing. But I will tell you that for these guys its easy....so don't let them tell you its $1000 bucks for install.

If it is, I would go someplace else because I would find it insulting for them to consider me so stupid to not realize they are overcharging.

Some shops I have called have said $2000 for cams, install and dyno tune. Which I guess isn't horrible, but I still think that is a$$ rape pricing.

I personally think that an reasonable cost for labor on a cam install would be $500. Anything more is greed.

Some of these places were telling me they drop the engine to change cams....whatever....

Thanks guys....I'll post a video as soon as he gets the Long Tubes on and gets it tuned. It would be interesting to hear the sounds right after one another.
