Default Why a Saleen s/c over a GT500?

A few of you have recommended for me to get a 06-07 saleen s/c over a 07 GT500

Why is that? GT500s have forged internals correct? And can handle alot more power?

You can't use the argument that the saleen looks better.

I think both are equal in looks and saleen is very sexy.

But I just don't see why a saleen s/c over a gt500?

What do 06-07 saleen s/c run in the 1/4 with no mods done to it?

Iron block with forged internals > aluminum block with hyperpathetic internals LOL IMO

Handling? GT500 can be upgraded

You mean I can see bobbies with a saleen and not a GT500

GT500 is the drag king. saleen does other things better, what are you trying to do? I vote gt500, it can handle way more power

Good looking car that can run low 12s

If a s/c saleen with no major mods can run low 12s then Im possibly sold on one.

Although I do know a GT500 can hit low 11s with just a few mods.

Are 05-07 saleens more reliable than the early 2000s?

I havent seen too many Bobbies but several boobies .
if handling can be upgraded in a gt500 then forged internals can be upgraded in a saleen .

Exactly. These discussions become completely useless once you start talking about mods. ANYTHING can be modded.
While both are obviously great cars, as far as looks go, I prefer the Saleen hands down. I also like the fact that it does more than go down a drag strip. That's just an opinion though. I haven't seen a Saleen Extreme for much less that 50k though.

Pure opinion I believe.

My opinion, personally happens to be for the GT500.
I'll take the drag outta the box over the handling outta the box.
Especially when we are talking about a Mustang.
Looks? Both are great but again the GT500 has the first pick for me.

The Saleen Extreme model does have forged internals.

Including the cost of the car's depreciation over 5 years it is impossible to beat a Saleen SC in terms of speed or acceleration if you compare it to GT500 financially speaking. This holds true all the way up to 1000 horsepower with the GT500 coming the closest to the Saleen at the 600 horsepower range where you have to upgrade the Saleen to Forged internals and a Tremec 6060 and the GT500 just needs a tune and intake.

Furthermore the difference between the top spec Saleen with all the optional parts and tires and the GT500 in terms of handling is a bit less than the difference between a Hummer H1 and a Mustang GT. I don't mean that as a joke either, that's a real fact.

Finally a 2007+ Saleen SC or a 2005+ with the 2007 tuning will beat a gt500 in every measurable and conceivable way. It's more comfortable too.

GT500s will just perform worse than Saleens due to the weight with the same parts or horsepower.
