Default Supercharger vs Turbocharger

Is there anybody on this forum that has experienced a supercharger and a turbocharger on our cars. I am really pushing towards the Turbo (as is in the sig) but maybe that is not the way i want to go.

I think the idea of a turbo sounds cool as well as the efficiency, but I have no idea what the lag would be like with a turbocharger as opposed to a supercharger.

I feel like once the turbo starts making boost it will make full boost right away and a supercharger makes full boost at peak rpm.

I am not going to be buying one until 2010, but if i do decide I like the supercharger better I will be getting LT headers with in this summer.

Turbo Charger as you stated builds up boost and gives you near 100% when it engages, downside is that too big of a snail will give you greater outputs but cause greater turbo lag. Small snail is more efficient but yields less power.

Supercharger is more gradual in terms of output. It's linear meaning as RPM increases so does the power output. Peak output is usually around 4500 to 5500 RPM. Most cars these days with factory FI in the domestics do S/C (Zr1, CTS-V, GT500, Cobalt SS, etc) Imports typically do Turbo (WRX, EVO, Etc). My guess is that most imports have a crazy Redline so they can add larger turbos to give more power. The higher redline allows a decent powerband still.

I feel like most the imports turbine housing is excessively smaller, so it builds boost very quickly to give the ignorant driver a quick rush and doesn't output too much power.

What turbo kits would be recommended?

What makes that turbo system better than the powerhouse411 turbo, or impulse, or any of the other ones.

Hellion does make nice kits. Are you looking for 400-450RWHP with no aspirations of building the bottom end or do you plan on forging the motor. For the money blowers are still a very good option. If you plan on dumping money into the motor and plan on increasing the boost later a turbo would be the way to go. If your worried about lag just do a twin turbo setup with the right size turbo's. Go to Garrets website. They have a ton of info.
