Default Cabin Air Filter Replacement

Anyone bought a non-OEM cabin filter? I'm thinking about getting one off ebay for $14 shipped.

Anyone? Thanks

My car is 3 yrs old and I have never changed this on any car I have owned.... any car manual can and will give recommendations on anything at said intervals just to make money for the cars and companies they were made at! but there are many factors that determine when things should be changed and they are different for many even if you live in the same area.

I also only have 4800 miles on the car...LOL and change the oil once a yr just to work on the thing and detail the engine bay and undercarriage.

EDIT: not trying to sway anyone from doing so but I would just save the cash for a bigger and better mod!....daltron that link is a great one!

What is the cabin air filter for and what does it do exactly? Never changed mine and have 35k.

exactly what the name implies...it filters the incoming air into the cabin of the car when your using the heat etc....

I'd think at $14 a pop its not that bad to change it once a year. I'm way past due. If the ebay filters aren't as good as OEM, i'll just pay the extra $15 to get an OEM one.

FYI, you can buy a Bosch P3756 or a Wix 24687 cabin air filter for around $15 dollars.

Changing the air cabin filter is not critical compared to oil, air, fuel filters. How much you use your fan on outside air vs. recirc and your location will determine how dirty the filter gets. And even IF it's dirty, what's the big deal? Unless it's nearly clogged it'll still pass air to the cabin. I wouldn't sweat changing it. Save it for a day that you're bored.
