Default Need some 1/4 mile insight.

So, good news 1st, I ran a new best 1/4 last night, 12.2@117.8, but the bad news is I am still cutting 1.8 60'. With the mods I have I feel I should be cutting WAY better 60's, but if I leave harder than 3K, it just blows the tires off. I run the car full weight. Car puts 470 to the tire with a Saleen running 9lbs of boost, is a 5 speed, running 18lbs of air in 305/45/18 Mickey ET Streets doing a decent burnout (I know the Mickeys don't need to be heated much):

Torque box braces (Steeda)
Adjustable LCA's with LCA relocation brackets (BMR)
Adjustable UCA (BMR)
Adjustable panhard bar (BMR)
FRPP 4.10's
Moser 31 spline axels
Detroit Tru-trac
Tociko Adjustables set full hard in front, full soft in back (also tried 2 off from full soft in back, no help)

What do you guys think? I mean I hear of guys running 12.3 N/A, so a 12.2 with a blower car makes me want to cry a little bit.

is the car lowered?

what gear burn out are you doing? how many MPH are you seeing on the burn out? and for how long are you doing the burnout for?

did you check the tire pressure between runs? IMO - 16-17 would work better

you should be able to get 1.6s on your 60s IMHO, I run a 265/40/18 MT and can get those 60s on a lowered car with more weight and run 11.8x @ 120 best.

any vids?

also.... wrong section in S/S would be better

You can never have too much power, just not enough traction.

Try slipping the clutch when you come out of the hole.
That works with the stock clutch but its hard on the clutch.
If you try this method let the clutch cool off between runs.

Centerforce Dual Friction clutch, and I dump it, I can't stand the smell of slipping the clutch, reminds me of when I killed the stocker, lol.

2nd gear burnout, don't watch the MPH, keep it just under redline. It is lowered on Steeda Ultralights. Track prep at the local track also leaves a little to be desired, but it was seeming to be better last night than most nights. I think I am going to Joliet later this year to see if it doesn't do a little better there.

My buddy is working on the vid, will post it here when get it.

Does a burning clutch smell different than burning tires?

God yes, one smells the way should be, one smells the way things shouldn't be. They both smell like money leaving my wallet, lol. I want to see how long the Mickeys last, they are pricey!!!

hmmm.... running pretty dam close to your setup, this is making me sad. Seems like we should be into the 11s without too much issue. I need to get to a track and see what I pull, though I know I'm on the last leg of my stock clutch as is....

Do you know what your pinion angle is? I know when I installed my lCAs and UCA I had set them to the factory length and put them in, but everything was still way off, just didnt seem to drive right till I took out the tape measure, adjusted the lengths of the LCA's to center them in the wells and equal distances from the fronts, then you need a magnetic angle finder to adjust that UCA to get the approriate angle. I belive your shooting for -2 but its been a while seance I adjusted mine. I hear some guys shoot for even more pinon angle to sorta "preload" it but thats getting a little more in depth then I was going for. I still drive this thing on the street often.

I think dumping the clutch is your problem
You have to slip the clutch and feather the gas.
Or let the car roll out a little @ idle then punch it.
And it just gets harder to 60' when you get a grabby clutch like the DFX or Spec stage 3
with 18" Drag radials.

well IMO, gotta watch the speedo you need 50-55 mph for 3-4 seconds to get them nice and stickey

the ultralites are hurting you, a lowered car doesnt transfer weight as well and hurts your 60s

gotta launch it harder IMHO

really...... and how many cars with that set up have your run down the track??

18" M&Hs - pulling 1.5 -1.6 60s

265/40/18 MTs pulling 1.68-1.79 60s

my vert has Spec 3+ and 18 DRs - dump the clutch at 4700.....
