Default New York Inspection

My question is what codes will fail the car on the NYS inspection. I had a VMP tune in the car since this spring, when I took it in a week ago the computer spewed out that several sensors were "not ready". I had asked Justin for an inspection friendly tune, and I haven't contacted him yet as my internet has been knocked out at work. I loaded the stock tune back in but left my MAC cold air intake hooked up, and I am getting the "sys too lean" code. Will this fail the car? I don't really want to have to put the stock airbox back on but I will if I have to. I would think if the car is running too lean that less pollutants would be coming out of the pipe and NY would be happy, but I am wondering if anyone on this forum knows for sure what codes can be on and the car still pass inspection.

Does anyone here run an aftermarket tune that regularly passes NY inspection?

the rear O2s are likely off in your VMP tune... they need to be on, then do a driving cycle, common issue with a easy fix

Yes, the VMP tune has the rear O2 sensors off. That will give you 3 'Not Ready' readings and you'll fail (been there, done that). To use your stock tune, you'll likely need to reinstall your stock airbox, if you still have it. Then reload your stock tune or simply use your SCT or Diablo to 'Clear DTCs', then drive around a couple of days to get through enough driving cycles.

I have a tune from VMP and it has the rear O2 sensors on (and something else off), but 1 'not ready' will pass here, but not 2 or more. Keep trying to get ahold of Justin and get your tune fixed.

I had this problem last month, I left my C&L airtake on and put the stock tune in and check engine light came on, I had to put the stock airbox on, 5 minute job, keep stock tune on and drive it for a few days, put 10-20$ gas in a few different times, and put a total of 150 miles on and the sensors all finally reset and was able to pass inspection.

Thanks, today I am putting the stock airbox on and clearing the code. Hopefully this will take care of it.

Drive it around for a few days, and also add gas, my mechanic said to put about 1/2 tank in, that has something to do with one of the sensors.
