Default Help! Failsafe mode

Crap, getting ready to take car on 2 hour trip in morning, and failsafe mode, engine dies.

Got gas went across street, realized forgot to put gascap back on.... never do that. Drive back to station, put cap on, drove back across street to car wash ( I know, Iknow, not now, it was touchless). Anyway, wash car and get out to dry, leave running for a couple minutes and it dies. Failsafe mode.

Took me several tries and reloaded tune (93 SC), couple more tries and it runs. drive the 7 minutes or so home, and as I am a few houses away from house..... dies, failsafe mode!

Have not reloaded tune again, it will not stay running, starts for like 3 seconds and dies WTF?

I assume I screwed up something when didn't have the cap on?

manual says failsafe is coolant problem, nope, the engine is not hot and res is full.

help

I'd pull the negative cable for a half hour. See if that resets it.

my son talked to Brespeed, they feel failsafe mode is usually a sensor gone bad. He decided the maf sensor looked like had water evidence, so for about $120 bought and installed new one.... no luck, same problem. Of course no return on the sensor, which I did know up front, just had very wishful thinking.

Guess next step is trailer it to Brenspeed....

Just wanted to post in case it can help someone else down the road...

I decided to change one more sensor, throttle position sensor, before hauling it to Brenspeed to fix. It worked! I am on the road again.

Yeah, failsafe is all about the sensors in the engine for ignition, not coolant or braking system.

I know having those kind of hard to troubleshoot problems can be a pain in the ass. I'm glad you got it figured out, congrats.
