Haha thanks guys, it's hot all the time. You tap the wire going to the trunk, and the other wire is a ground. Simple, just completes the circuit, so to answer your question it's hot all the time. It's extremely convenient if you play with your car enough!

how is reaching over and opening the glove box (with stuff that comes flying out) easier than just pushing the trunk release button on the key remote hanging from the ignition???

It has to be hot all the time, ask the wife...
That's why you kinda wanna hide that switch.
Having a button helps when you go to the garage and want something out the trunk and realize your keys are upstairs .

The other thing that can be annoying is, I'd like to have the option to unlock ALL doors when I press the button on the fob. I hate to go around the car first when I need to open the passenger side door...
