I added my own ambient lighting for about $40. I got two Optx LED pods from Advanced Auto for $10 each, then a pack of 4 5mm blue LEDs from Amazon. I used 16 ga. speaker wire and tapped into the pink/blue wire from the unused harness under the center console. I put the pods on the mounting tabs that were there (my car is an 08) for the factory ambient lighting. I put one LED in the rear of the cup holder and also one inside the console compartment. I also wired everything up to an on/off switch that I put inside the console compartment.
Here are some pics...
Note: I also have blue LEDs in my map lights so that gives more blue light in those pics.
since you tapped into the line in the center console
would u mind telling me how u mounted up the switch?
Thanks a bunch man!
PM me with more details if ya don't mind

That's a direct link to the bulbs in their "store". Here's a link to see some other versions, but I went with the 12x LED bulb and they do fit just fine. http://www.superbrightleds.com/mini-wedge.html
