The ones the original poster has is one piece with a clear (and very durable) plastic window molded to it. You have to remove your ¼ window to install those.
There are louvers that stick on the outside of your window with 3M tape too.

Use the search box up top and you can learn all about them. Taco Bill even did a write up in the "How to" section on SRH (Silver Race Horse) louvers installation.

They are made of clear polycarbonate, when you have them painted they leave the inner part of each louver unpainted so it acts like a window. I don't have any clear pictures of mine but I'm sure someone will post some pics that show the way they look painted.
