You DO know that higher octane won't do squat unless you're tuned for it.

Is this legit from just a fuel filter change?
It has to be legit, the Ford computer read out said so....sorry Darren, just had to say it..LOL!!

The tanks are emptied and filled with gas on a weekly basis. My buddy does tell me he could be rich if he took the bribes they offer him and his wife.

For S197winstang,
Exxon doesn't sell Exxon gas, Citigo stations don't sell Citigo gas. Your tech is an idiot. There is a local terminal, the local gas stations hire an independent tanker to go to the that terminal and buy gas and ship it to their local station. Example. A Exxon station hires a tanker to go down to the local Citgo terminal and buy gas and deliver it to them. They add in any detergents later on. How can they do this? There is only X amount of refineries and all of them run thru a part of Oak in a massive pipeline. So from your small mom and pop gas station to exxon, it's all the same gas.

Think about it, how does Exxon get gas in the more rural corners of this Country? Do you think they truck that gas all the way from their terminal or refinery or think they have pipelines going everywhere? The difference between an exxon station and a citgo station is the signs, that's it. Change the signs, the gas stays the same.

I'm trying to help you guys out. Stop wasting your money. Leave your FF alone, change it at 60k and then replace your injectors at 100k and be done with it.
Common Sence "should" tell us: Gas is in tank, Things settle to bottom of tank, tank gets filled, things on bottom become floaters in tank, get pulled into pump motor (inside tank) and poof, trash in YOUR tank. Also, there is such a thing as condensation that builds up in the tank as well as in the truck hauling the gas. Speaking of the truck hauling the gas...contaminates from previous loads he had, rust particles or trash in his truck. That, my friend does equal "BAD GAS". Next time you go to get gas for your lawn mower, look in the bottom of your gas can and tell me the tanks are clean. Just my .02......
Anyway, it sucks when you do get hold of it.

Getting back to the fuel filter and gas mileage issue, what would be the explanation for a new fuel filter causing a gas mileage increase? I can't think of any. If anything, a clean fuel filter would allow increased fuel flow, but it doesn't matter because the amount of fuel flow through the injectors is controlled by the ECM.

FYI-- they are like 14.99 on Am Muscle. It would not hurt to change it...

After changing mine the other day, I'm considering buying a sheet of washable filter media and cutting 2 filters to fit the frame; one to install next time and the 2nd to rotate the time after that so I can wash the 1st one. It's only for the cabin and I've been driving HOW MANY years before anyone even BEGAN putting them in cars? Try about 35 years...
