Default MMR Short block opinions? ?

Alright some of you know ive been talkin alot about getting up into some big enough power numbers that our stock motors cant handle...well ive read alot of opinions about MMR and im getting alot from both sides..some of you guys swear by them and some of you guys will tell me to ''stay away'' in bold letter in the biggest font size..well ive been wanting a 5.0 stroker and have been looking at getting this one from them..price isnt bad either

QUESTIONS:
1. I wouldnt need any of the options laid out towards the bottom would I?
2. If I should get some, for the ones that say 600+hp, does that mean i would HAVE to have atleast 600hp for that option? I plan on starting at 500hp and then uping the power once i get use to it, thats the reason for the weird questions..

I would get the ARP head studs and the side bolts....and no you dont have to have 600+ HP minimum to put any option on that you might want....just makes the motor more bulletproof and IMO it is wise to start off with a lower boost/HP and then up it after the motor and tune are dialed in...... JMO

You need to answer the options really for yourself.....what do you plan on doing with the car???? road races, track, street, DD etc...

What amt of HP do you want in total....(I wanted 450...now I want 650...and that could change to 800 in time after that) it never ends...but it is fun!

They have been around for a while but have no personal experience with them. I did consider them for my engine build and they seemed knowledgable over the phone.

I'm sure there are pleny of good engine builders in Texas. Why not support a local speedshop?

+1 with your evident lack of knowledge on the build I think you would be much better off getting with a good local speed shop and having them take care of everything. I am also one of those that recommend you to stay away from MMR. They cost me an engine and transmission due to a terribly built shortblock and selling me the wrong 8 bolt flex plate.

DO NOT USE MMR THEY ARE HORRIBLE go over to S197Forum.com has to be at least 20 horror story threads about there blocks and there customer service I would use Livernois (Great Products and Customer Service) or a local speed shop.

Well it never hurts to ask. You might be surprised at how competitive some of the local shops are getting to win your business.
