What's actually funny is you are the one who brought up post count. I was just making fun with it.

Even eBay isn't a safe way to make big purchases. Though I am sure there are thousands of successful high dollar sales, I am not one who would just throw my money to the wind in hopes that it is legit.

So even if this is to good to be true, I would still make sure 100% it was legit. I know for sure there would be a local forum member that would be willing to play broker in the deal for a few bucks or beers.

People just gotta ask...

If it was me and I was going to buy an $11k motor from some guy (who I didn't know) over the internet. I would spend a few hundred dollars on a plane ticket, deliver the money to him personally, and set up the shipping arrangements myself.

I've been looking into a 302ci mod motor myself as an alternative choice for my '68 Cougar. I'm still leaning more towards my first choice (6.1L Hemi), but may change my mind if I come across a deal on a 4.6l that can be stroked later.

Stock 4.6 3v longblocks regularly appear on s197 based forums that are geared more towards racers. Going rate is around $1200 plus shipping. Keep in mind you still need a harness and computer.

I realize that (about the harness an computer). FRPP has them for $1350. $1200 sounds like a pretty good price to me. $1200 + $1350 still puts me under the $9k it would cost to go with the Hemi.

Start hitting the forums and ebay. The deals sometimes include a complete motor, harness, computer, and tranny for a good price.

In your case a crate 302 based motor from www.fordracingparts.com would probably be the easiest way to go.

So have I but read many great things about them too.....

OP- MMR, Livernois, FRPP, DSS etc are one you should look into......get your block bored to 302 and have the forged internals to go with it and your set....maybe half the cost of going with a whole new motor esp if your only wanting 600 RWHP which many a member have done without spending 11K on a new motor

I would highly suggest Al Papito and Lethal Performance. Great motors and good prices.

Why has no one brought up Sean Hyland Motorsports? They are only a bit more expensive than the rest but he has built all of our motors for 10 years including our race motors and they have lasted longer than any other motors we've seen or built. And instead of stroking the motor, build the heck out of the valve train and rev it to 8000. You will make far more horsepower with the additional 1000 to 15000rpm than you will with just an extra 21CID. Besides, we have a square bore/square stroke motor? Why ruin that?

He has short blocks from only $4195 to full on 3V race motors like the ones we run for $11,544. And we spin his race motor to 9500rpm! 1 of his motors last us over 1 full season of 20+ events, 10 demos, and hours and hours of tuning and testing.
