OP you are way way off on this one. First off if your own boss at your work treated you this way and never trusted you to do a very basic task you would be furious. Changing oil is not rocket science, leave the guy alone or take your car somewhere else or do it yourself. Do you think your 20k stang is worth bothering some guy trying to put food on the table who has done 10,000 oil changes? You think since you slapped some parts on and your car is special? It's not. All those F150's Ford sells which are way more expensive than our stangs, do you think those guys want to watch their oil get changed? The tech was correct. You sir are arrogant.

As for the guy who mentioned a show car, you don't own a "show car" it's just 1 of 23495874598435789 mustangs on the road, just because you "show it" doesn't make it special, just a mustang dude, a nice one, but just a mustang. It's still a depreciating asset that will be in a junk yard on avg in 10 years of life.

You guys need to get off your high horse.

I can see both sides here.

OP you came off as arogant or an arse even if that wasn't your intention. The Tech could've been more communicative as well.

Personally, I always take our Fords to the dealer I trust for fluid changes. It's not worth the hassle or time for me any more.

I simply went in and found a service rep I had a good rapport with and see if I felt I could trust him and the dealership. I also found out which tech's he recommends and what days are the best to come in on. He knows me too now and whenever I bring one of our cars in not only will they wash it without having to ask me (a real wash, not a spray down) before returning it to me but he will have it waiting in the new car receiving area with the hood propped open for my inspection.

He's even gone so far as to have the tech or himself greet me at the car just to make sure I"m happy with everything. The only car I've bought from that dealership was my 08 GT and that was in march of 08.

When he stops working there, if there isn't another rep I like/trust/have rapport with and I don't get the tech(s) I want, I'll go to a different dealership and look until I find one again.

It's all in the approach. Granted, it's your first experience with them (which sucked) so you may want to try a different one next time. Oh and try to be a little more diplomatic next time

You know, I had a long post typed up to rebut you with but decided not to post it. It just was not worth my time or effort since you know nothing about my car or what makes a show car. But I will thank you for you kind comment about it being a “nice one”…..

Reason #50000 to do your own work. In the time it took you to drive there and deal with these mouth-breathers, you could have done it yourself twice.
a lil extreme dont u think?

not to be a total dick, but if you had the time to watch the tech do it, you could have done it yourself.

If your car isnt stock then there maybe things that need to be done differently even on something as simple as an oil change. So i see no problem with wanting to watch.

Also what would you rather do hang out in some dingy waiting room and watch judge judy, or get a look at the underside of your car!
