the casing itself?

not at all. I did the DIY painting on my 2006 F-150. Easy to do.

that black box though...I don't know. Probably would be fine if you kept the temps under 200F. Hell, the hood itself gets 100F or hotter on hot days. and there is a 200F heater (engine) sitting next to it when idling.

recommend you set aside 3-4 hours for this project and take your time.

I just burnt my lamp. Baking it did not work well. I put it in there for 5 minutes at 200 degrees and a condensation like burn mark occurred on the lamp of the headlight. I proceeded with getting the lens off and tried rubbing it off but made it worse by rubbing off the chrome on the lamp.

I just bought another Left Saleen headlight thats in good shape. I have two left headlights in good shape now. Not sure what to do with them now.

You don't have to bake them. Just take the heat gun to them. Take a nice and cut between the lens and plastic housing. Heat up the housing from the back, not the front. You know you're good when the black housing is soft. Put the panel popper in and start slowing. It'll take 20-30 minutes to get the lens off. It's a pain in the ass, but take your time. Start with the top and work towards outside. That's the easiest.

I retro'd a set of X5 lenses into my Jeep GC a few years ago. I will be doing another retro to my mustang's headlights when I get home in January...

Just took the lens off and removed in the plastic piece inside. Then took it a step farther and removed everything from the housing. Just to see how it's laid out.
