07_Stang - I'm wondering if that's the stuff they sell at the auto parts store. I was thinking about maybe picking up one of those and trying it out.
It probably is. If I remember correctly, it was about the size of a kindergarten crayon, white with a yellow sleeve.
They are good for touch ups, but you will need to have paint on the letters first.
Back then, sometimes you got curb rash on your tires (God forbid) but you could clean it up with the stick.
Too bad they don't sell tires with it on there. Who knows, maybe if enough of us write to Goodyear as well as some other companies, maybe they'll bring 'em back.

Hey that crayon you guys are talking about is still out there. Its called a tire crayon. Its used at every tire and repair shop around. Thats how we mark the tires. And they even come multi-colored, not just white. I have a yellow one sitting in my garage right now.

I like that look a lot. Takes me back to the good ol' days.
I contacted Coker Tire co. a couple years ago, about offering white lettered tires in modern sizes and got no response. With all the pony cars back in production it seems logical to offer them now.
This is something I really want to do, however I have Sumitomo HTRZ's on my stang, would it be sacrilegious to do RWL on a non-American tire. ie Goodyear, BF Goodrich.

2 years ago, i tried several paint pens, crayons, hot tires, duplicolor, and others and posted pics on here. everyone loved the look. However, after about 2 weeks even without driving the car. the White letters turned the nastiest brown color. no matter what product i used. its like the tires bleed it from underneath whatever you put on them.
final verdict is White letter tires look awesome, but there arent any. paint pens look awesome for about 14 days, then really nasty.

Yes, that was a common problem back then. I would use Wesley's White Tire cleaner to make them white again. Then touch up with the crayon stick. Same thing with white wall tires.
Heck I use Wesley's today on my Conversion Van that has Michelin Tires with white letters.
I'm not sure if anyone said this yet (Havent read the whole thread, sorry), but Goodyear sells a tire with white lettering called 'Eagle #1 Nascar' or something along those lines. I believe they only fit stock 6'er tires (the ones in my sig). Those tires will run you about $500 - $1000 depending on where you go. I'm still undecided if I want the white letter tires or just fork up a little more cash and buy new rims/tires all together. I think I'll pick up some tire pen in the meantime. I'll post some pics when i'm done.

Had a set of these from Discount Tire on my sons 2003 V6, they only go up to 16" tires, dont remember paying near that much for them tho., they had them in yellow or white lettering, dont believe they sell them anymore tho.
