Talking Out with the Shaker, 2KW RMS and two 12s (work log w/pics)

Hey All,
Putting this in here cause its not general questions or anything, and are trunks are way different from all the other years. This has probably been done before, or something close anyway, but I like making my own boxes and decided to have at it with this equipment I got left over.

The Plan:
Removed the shaker 1000 subs and its BS amp rack. F.Y.I. theres 4 amps on that amp rack, but there all for the 2 10" subs. The 8s in the doors still work and surprisingly, not a drastic reduction in bass from the system.....

Now, building two custom boxes to go in the fender wells, from this first set of pictures you can see that there is a ton of intricate cuts and weired sizes and angles to contend with. This is the first box I have built where it wasn't all planned out and I knew the exact size and tunning but sense I'm not porting the boxes, it wasn't that important. Though I did surprise myself. I think I got close to 2 cubic feet per box without giving up much space.

Where the trunk slopes up, like where they made room for the drive shaft, i am going to make a amp rack that follows the same angle but is off by about 2" so I can make a inlay and put the amps behind some plexy.

That brings me to the goods:
2 12" Kicker L7s (dual 4 ohm)
Hifronics Brutus Class D mono amp, 2KW RMS @ 1 ohm
6 farad cap with built in distribution block.

Its gonna take me a few weeks to get this completed because I need to order the fans I want so I can vent the amp enclosure, and need to order in some carpet, but should be functional by the end of next weekend if not sooner.

This is the first piece I cut from the cardboard template

This is the general idea of the comparative space it takes up compared to the Shaker:

This gives an idea of how many steps and angles I had to make to make this box fit that area but still give me as much air space per sub as I could get:

Test fit with first sides put in:

On the inside, so you can see the steps and other bulges I need to deal with:

with the shaker removed:

and with the first box fully assembled:

Lastly I have to give credit where credit is due. I couldn't have done all this without my little helper.

Double checking all my measurements:

and getting into all those hard to reach locations:

I will be doing the same in the next few months. Good to know I'm not the only one making my own custom sub enclosure.

Updates:

Well completed second box, took this photo from the back so you can actualy see what all the angles look like on the back. Really roughed this one out, but I dont care, your not gonna see the backside of it.

And heres the amp, cap, and subs. Thats the box I had em in when they were in the back of my WRX, but wanted to do something that in the end will come out alot better looking with this one.

he demanded to be in all of them....
