How much would you pay for a tranny flush and fluid change?
So how much would you pay for a tranny flush and fluid change for a manual? reason i ask is i was at ford getting some TSB's done and i though what the hell i will ask them since i was there and the manager quoted me
$150.00, which to me is outragous, as i was planing on doin it myself anyways...when i told him this, he offered to take 10.00 (big F'n deal) off and then explain all great things they do for your tranny. So how much would you pay? Huge ripoff i am sure...

I thought that flushing only applied to a automatic and its around $120 because it uses like twice as much fluid as a manual. I usually drain the transmission on my manual than flush a quart trough it and than refill with 3 quarts and some change. (Royal Purple Syncro Max)
i dont know much about tannys but he said flush...so who knows... Since its a mannual how much should i expect to pay?

They may have thought you were referring to an automatic transmission, with the flushing the transmission question. If that was the case, $150 would be about right, but with an automatic, the filter should also be changed at the same time, which should bring the maintenance cost to about $200 - $225 or so. For an idea of how much changing the standard transmission fluid would be, you'd need to ask that specifically. The prices for automotive maintenance/repair are calculated by multiplying the book time for a given job X the auto center/repair shop's hourly labor rate and then adding the cost of any needed materials/parts on top of that. This is how it's done. Repair/maintenance prices for vehicles aren't just dreamed up to some pie in the sky price. There's actually a method to it and it is the same at any auto center/repair shop you go to. If one establishment is lower than another, it is only because their hourly labor rate is lower, (not as experienced or qualified technicians?), and/or the materials/parts being used are of lower quality, i.e. maybe manufactured in China?
To give you an example, if looking up the time needed, (this is done with the industry standard Mitchell Labor Rate guide on a computer, that lists the expected repair time for any repair or maintenance on a vehicle), to change the transmission fluid in your standard transmission car was say .90 hours and the hourly labor rate is say $75 per hour then we have .90 X $75 = $67.50 for labor, plus say $40 for fluid = $107.50. This is the way it is done at any auto center/repair shop you go to.
Check your owners manual and see what mileage is recommended to change the standard transmission fluid at. I hope this helps you out.
