Hi Ralph,
I can't speak for the Saleen, but I did have the Vortec HO S/C on my 2005 Mustang GT for almost 4 1/2 years before I sold the car and it was awesome!
It was professional installed and dyno tuned for realistic every day power. The car base-lined at 265rwhp and when they got finished, it was at 425rwhp/404rwtq @ 8.11psi on a Mustang Dyno. The boost would start building at around 2,800rpm and just continue from there until red-line, pulling ever step of the way. My 2005 GT came stock with 3.55's in the rear and it was a great
balance for both highway driving and "get up and go". I was told by many that 4.10's would make my car a beast, but then I talked to several people who told me that I would lose the
balance that I currently had. 4.10's would be freakin awesome from a dead stop, but once I got on the highway, I was told my car would run higher RPMs when traveling 80mph-85mph. I then looked into 3.73's, thinking this might be a good middle ground, but when I talked to my performance shop, they told me going from a 3.55 to a 3.73 was just not worth the money?? I ended up keeping the 3.55's until I sold the car.
Many people here put 4.10's in their car and love them. I just wasn't comfortable not knowing what I was going to be getting myself into and I didn't have anyone in the area with a similar set-up for me to see in person, to see whether I would like it or not.
here's a picture of my S/C..
