Default how does the dealer act toward tunes and CAI's

I have a stock '07 that came with the 5-60 power train warranty, it would be nice to keep that intact, if there was ever an issue is the dealer able to detect that the car has had a different tune in it?? also what about the CAI, I would imagine some dealers treat it differently, but is there a general consensus on how these mod effect the powertrain warranty??

Read through your manual. There is a few sections that specifically mention "aftermarket parts". It basically reads that the installation alone does not void the warranty. If the installed part causes a problem, then that part will more than likely not be covered.

It's all very subjective, so you need to weigh your options with each part you put on. You always have the option of returning to stock tune/intake. All that shows up is your computer was reset. You "could have" disconnected the battery before bringing it in in an effort to clear a code for all they know.

My dealership has always been alright with the mods I've installed. I never have had to bring it in for much anyhow, and not for anything to do with a system that has been modded. It is a very small dealership though.

I've had no problem with my dealership where I bought the car as far as my CAI & tune. It all depends on the dealership. Some feel they can intimidate and some are cool. I've recently moved and am actually looking forward with going head-to-head with an azzhole maintenance dept manager at my latest location. Nothing like a good fight...

I've found them to be generally disapproving and moderately bitter regarding my cai/tune.

I agree! Much of the reason my next purchase did not come from them.

I've found them to be hit and miss.

Some dealers find it to be an excuse to send you packing or charge you for more than what's fair, but others will look at it as a simple bolt on mod that is harmless....all depends on who you talk to.

All are different. Generally, a CAI and catback or axleback are fine. Tuners, S/Cs, Turbos, and headers are questionable and may cause warranty problems UNLESS you buy Ford Performance parts from the catalog and Ford installs it (just make sure it is not an off-road part).
