Hey guys i was wondering if this is happening to anyone else. It seems that when its cold out sometimes its pretty hard to put the car in first or reverse. after it warms up its seems ok.. but i almost have to force it into gear, this cant be normal can it? i also have a hurst comp shifter but i dont think that would cause this.

Since my and my g/f's Stangs sit overnite in the garage, I can't say either of us have experienced that (besides, hers is an auto). But I've heard others mention that on the forums. You may want to try a synthetic tranny oil. I've heard that helps.

Put the car in the second or third before attempting to
push into the first/reverse. Will help a lot.
thats the thing i do put it in second or third before i try... i will try changing to synthetic tranny oil. Does any one think something is seriously wrong?

I had a chevy silverado truck for 12 years... it did that every winter, never changed any fluid or had any problems. Tranny was working like a champ when i sold it.

Sometimes you can help the problem by blipping the throttle while in neutral (not pressing the clutch) before pressing the clutch and trying to put it in gear. It gets the trans. input shaft spinning.
Oh yeah, and it happens to me, too. Actually, I've had worse happen: there's nothing like getting into 1st okay, making it out onto a slippery road and reaching for 2nd only to find you're locked out...now you're free-wheeling down the road with no gears! That's when I usually try the above approach to get me back on my way.
