Default need rim help

ok i called the only place close to me about powdercoating my stock rims. I was told that it would be $50 a rim if the rims are not aluminum. I put a magnet on them and they are aluminum. He said they may not come out right so he doesnt want to take a chance on ruining them. So guess now i am down to painting them. Can i paint them with chrome paint? Will they come out looking good, and will they last?

If I were you I would post them in the classifieds and see if anyone in your area would be willing to trade rims with you. It's worth a shot, you could meet at a tire shop and get the tires switched. That way neither of you have to spend money to get what you each want.

I am planning on getting my stock 18's powder coated. I called a local shop who quoted me $80 per rim. He didnt say anything about aluminum rims having any problems. What is the problem with powder coating aluminum rims?

My Cobra R rims on the 91 are powder coated. I'm pretty sure they're aluminum and several members of our car club have powder coated aluminum rims. I'm about to have my stock Bullets on my 06 powder coated. I didn't know you COULDN'T p/c aluminum rims. I think I'd ask around at other shops before resolving to paint them.
