Default Cam upgrade

Anyone have any experience with either Thumpr cams or Ford Racing Hot Rod Cam? Both of these cams sound soooo good!! I personally think Thumpr sounds better. I heard Ford racing cams give a power boost throughout a wider RPM range but they are more expensive plus they dont say anything about a phase limiter. Thumpr is about $700 plus an extra $200 for the limiter. I would imagine the limiter is a must as the 4.6 has the capability of retarding the timing 60 degrees.

Have you thought about Brenspeed's Detroit Rockers? No limiter needed.

Before you drop hundreds on cams and either labor or hours doing it yourself you should choose cams based on your set up not the sound. If you're going to go F/I or or stay N/A you must choose your cams according to that.

its really not just the sound, if you look at them both you will see major performance improvements. Not really worried about labor to put them in either as I have been a technician for over 20 years and look forward to the task. The one thing i am worried about is drive ability with certain grinds of the cams.

I have the d rockers with an auto trans. For DD they are perfect. Only difference is the cars wants a good 30-45 second warm up before putting in drive. Got longtubes yet?

I recall when Brenspeed first released the DR cams, a statement made made that the drive ability of the DA cam was much better than the Thumpr with less loss of low RPM torque.
