On the 2006's there is a apprently an option for an aux connector, but the 2005's did not offer this. The only option for 2005's is a 3rd-party adapter, a PIE adaptor, which from what I was told the initial release had some issue that kept it from working properly.
While not a direct connect, my son uses something called an iTrip that basically transmits his song list to an FM station of his choice. Seems to work fine. I could see some issues on a long trip, depending on the station.

Does anyone know if there is a way to connect an iPod to the shaker 500 system? Are there any auxiliary input's maybe?
For the 2005 Shaker500 ur SOL. I've been looking for an ipod to shaker connection since I got my stang. I've finally given up and bought a pioneer system with the ipod adaptor. There are a few sellers for an ipod connection but none except one that has one for the 2005 mustangs. BTW the one that has it, their connector has a bug in the IC that they're working on fixing.
I'm kinda glad that I got a new head unit. It sounds so much better than the shaker. The shaker is decent but this pioneer i got is far much superior. I even got a low end pioneer ~$169 + $129 ipod connector. Worth every penny.

I have three types of connections, The Iriver for our truck "junk" Then I lost the monster cable somewhere and replaced it with the Itrip which again is "junk". If I could find that monster cable I'd be happier then a pig in sh--. you get the point. you know... the minute I buy a new one the other one will show and then I'll have 4[&:]
I am Very interested in an ipod connection for my 06 anyone know what to do?

If you look in the 2006 Mustang Accessory brochure they mention something called TripTunes that suppose to work with any mp3 player. Not sure how it connects but I will bet that you won't be able to control your iPod like the other solutions(pioneer, alpine, etc)
BTW I do have my two old Monster iCarPlays I'd be willing to part with for a small fee($30 for iCarPlay or $50 for iCarPlayPlus) . Any Takers?

I just installed the PIE adapter in my 2005 with the Shaker 500 (got it from Crutchfield). The problem you mention is that the CD player and changer aren't supposed to work after installation (for some that may not be a problem, you load your CD's onto your iPod anyway).
My CD player and changer work perfectly after I installed the PIE adapter last weekend. You have to have an "AUX" button on your stereo for this to work. The until plugs in where the 16 pin adapter goes in the radio (first slot next to the antenna input). Crutchfield instructions were very good on console and radio removal.
I velcroed the adapter to the side of center stack and its perfectly hidden there. Ran the ground and power wires to the power plug in the console. The audio cable I ran through the console to the small hatch next to the power plug and everything works great. Fantastic sound, so much better than the FM transmitters.
I use an ipod docking cradle by DLO. The ipod sits in the cradle and transmits over an FM station while charging at the same time. It plugs into your cigarette lighter to charge and get power to transmit. I thought it was ugly as hell sticking out the middle of my car so I plugged it into the cig lighter in the armrest and its totally concealed now. Pretty good reception.. not the best but what do you expect. All you have to do is find a local station thats not being used (around here its the ones in the low 80's) and set a preset on your radio and then set the transmitter for that station. Pretty simple and wasnt a bad deal for 75 bucks.
you got three options - all increasingly more expensive 1) an fm transmitter which at times is a pain depending on how far you drive and reception; 2 PIE adapter $80 - 90 and a direct connect to the auxiliary and you control the ipod itself; 3) Peripheral ipod 2 which connects to the auxiliary and you control the ipod with your radio and the connection charges it; about $190; - this is what i have and it is worth the extra money - keep it in the armrest and control it with the radio. just pick your poison -everyone here will tell you what they like so sift through the comments - my only recomendation is get the pie or peripheral: much better sound.
