Default Radio swap: standard cd player for shaker 500 system

Hi, anyone ever swapped they're standard cd player for the 500 system? Other than the hard parts ,any other problems?? I have access to a complete system with door panels, any negatives or problems ? it's an 06 system so I think the skipping problems have been fixed......

I don't have a skipping problem but I definetly wish it was louder!! I changed the rear speakers but it still needs something. I'm an older guy but I still like loud music once in a while!!

I don't think i'll replace the shaker 1000 head unit yet, but I think I want to change my 6x8's.

Agreed. The Shaker system is one of my biggest disappointments. Can't play gapless CDs, skips, ID3 tag info gets cut off, CDs ejected. Don't bother.
