Default Installing Front License Plate

I was looking for that thread about ideas on how to put the plates on without drilling holes. I pull over by the cops today and he issued me a ticket for not having me my plate on. He could of given a warning..F*cking d*ck![:@] Any ways I want to put them on this weekend. I wonder if they have 3M tape at home depot.

I'm putting off putting my front plate on until I'm pulled over, too. Maybe heavy-duty magnets? Nah, we're just going to have to suck it up and drill.

That sucks. It's a shame to have to drill into the GT bumper. I hope you can find an alternate way to stick your plate on. Luckly for me the V-6 bumper already has dimples and an indent for the front plate.

try some 3m tape, velcro or better yet just move to a state like FL that dont require front plates.

The GT has dimples and the inner sleeve to thread in the screws for the plate. The holes you make will be quite small (test with the smallest screw possible first) Someday down the road you could easily fill this small hole and touch up the paint if you could then run a single plate.

You might also consider a very small diam bolt (maybe find a 1/16" diam or smaller if you can find such a thing); drill through the dimples and through bolt (washer on the plate) and now you have a hole that is really tiny)

I thought you didn't have to put a front license plate on unless the car came with mounts from the factory.

The mustang GT has provision for the front license plate; the two dimples are there and the screw sleeve is behind these for mounting. I don't have a front plate because older plates in MA (the green ones) were a single plate. What cars don't have provision for a front license plate? The states that provide 2 plates require that you mount two. What is the issue here other than we don't want to attach the front plate because it takes away from the looks. What am I missing?

Unfortunately, that's not true. If you don't have a front tag in Maryland, you'll get a ticket. Of course it is up to the police officer and probably what kind of day he/she is having but I wouldn't want to take the chance. -Joe

There's another topic on here somewhere where someone has his front plates held on by some powerful magnets. He used liquid nails to attach the magnets to his plate, put felt over them, and then put a piece of steel on the inside of his bumper. I think he used some magnets out of a old computer or something. One of these days I'm gonna try this. No holes for my bumper.

Worth a try; I would put a couple thin wires through the plate and attach underneath just in case the plate came detached somehow.
