Wavy replacement grille for an 06 GT
Hey guys,
I recently purchased an Eleanor type grille with the center fog light position for my 06 GT from Blue Oval.
When I installed it, it was wavy at the bottom so it was not flush on the bumper. I like the grille because it
has the same pattern as the stock grille.
Does anyone know of an easy way to get the grille to lose the waves and lay flat on the bumper?
Thanks,
Gray Porter

All of the new center fog grilles from KSR, Ebay, Blue Oval and other sites came in from the distributor with some warpage along the front leading edge of the lip on both side and in the center. ZYou have two options:
Send it back for a refund since all of the sellers are taking returns on the warped grilles. But... there is a wait for the new ones... anywhere from 6 to 10 weeks.
Fix it. Not that hard, took less than an hour. THis is how I did it.
I bought some aluminum plate measuring 18"x2"x1/8" (2 sections)
SOme C clamps, vise grips, torch and some cold water and sponges.
I used the two aluminum strips, putting them on both side of the front lip. Using the C clamps I clamped them together and used the vise grips in the center for leverage.
Used the torch to heat the plastic about 1/2" to 1" from the backside, on the bottom lip from underneath (THicker and stronger there). Heated the plastic until it started off gassing , put pressure on the front lip to move it to where I wanted it and then immediately hit it with cold water to set the plastic so it would retain the new shape. Took a few attempts to get it just right. ALl done, total cost to repair was less than $5.00 and an hour of my time. Looks like it fits better than the stock grille.

The KSR grill is easy to fix. I took a far less complicated approach than others did.
Uses a piece o 1X2 about 8 or so inches long. Heated the bottom of the grill with a propane torch, then from the top side, used the piece of wood to bend the grill until the warp was gone. It didn't come out perfect, but you're not going to find another one for the price ( mine was $119 from Energizer Racing )

Hey guys, I utilized a propane torch and some wood to adjust my grille. It is not perfect, but it looks a heck of a lot better then it did. Thanks again for the help with this issue.
