I ran across this on Autoblog tonight, Could it be true

We reported late last year that Ford was probably working on a Boss version of the S197 Mustang. Motor Trend is reporting in its September issue that the Boss Mustang is definitely a go for the model year before a refreshed Mustang bows in 2008. Our own Eric Bryant reported it will likely be powered by a naturally-aspirated 5.4-liter V8 version of Ford's Mod motor architecture, while Motor Trend claims it will be a V8 of about 5.0-liters in size. Eric and MT do agree, however, that the Boss Mustang will make 390 horsepower.

MT also reveals that the Boss Mustang will get the Shelby GT500's complete suspension set up and that the interior will be stripped out to reduce weight. It sounds like the Boss Mustang will be a great pony car to purchase before the muscle cars are renewed in a few years. It'll likely be as light as a V6 Mustang, more powerful than a GT, and less expensive than a Shelby GT500.

So let me get this stright. I bet it will have an block with 4v heads. I really doubt ford will come up with a larger displacement aluminum 3v engine before 08-09.

So if it has the iron 5.4 motor, which is heavier. And a lighter interior (read even cheaper for more money). Sounds like another nose heavy mustang to me.

I certainly dont see where they can lighten it to the point of being 3200-3300 lbs and accomplish the above. But who knows.

Shelby suspension doesent make sense. So they are putting the larger rear sway bar. And putting shocks and dampers that are designed for a 4000lb car in a car that weights 3300 lbs??

IF they are going to call it the BOSS 302.. then it MUST have a 302 Cubic Inch engine in it to hold true to the name!

By the way.. the 302ci is 4948.874cc, or what we call the 5.0!

that car is just a GT with striping that says BOSS, go read the article and it tells you that. The guy could have put BOSS 10 million on it if he wanted to.

That photo is just a GT with a Boss stripe, the one in the Motor Trend looks different. It doesn't have a GT logo at all... but I can't find a picture of it online.
