Default Opinion on Rear End Issue

Alright I need your opinion/advice on a rear end issue I have been having for about 9 months now. My rear end makes a whining sound when I get up around 60 mph and let off the accelerator. The car drives fine, but the noise is annoying and it can be heard over the radio and with the windows down. I have taken it to Ford 6 times for the problem. The first five times they replaced the ring and pinion and bearings and the noise was gone for a week or two and then would come back. The sixth time (this past week) they replaced the ring and pinion with a newer one following TSB 05-20-2, and when I picked it up the whine was still there. I called my service advisor and he said put a 200-300 miles on it and call back if it still making the noise, because sometimes they need to break in for the noise to go away. Does this make sense to anyone?
I was also talking to a friend of mine who races 4x4s and on his Ranger he had the same problem. He said the ring is "out to far" and needs to be adjusted. Does this make sense to anyone? As you can probably tell I don't know much about the rear ends of these cars, and I am getting pretty frustrated. I had one service advisor tell me that this was the nature of the cars, and this is normal. I told the service manager this and he jumped on the advisor.
So now my options are keep taking it to Ford, and hope they fix it before my warranty runs out, or turn it in under Florida's Lemon Law. I haven't done any mods on it at all because I don't want to put money into a car I may get rid of.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing the noise or how to fix it?

Not yet, trying to let the warranty handle the problems before I put money into the car, just in case I lemon law it and get rid of it.

I had similar problems after changin out the control arms until i got the pinion angle right... but this then would not be your problem...

Ford did put a whole new rear end in my car about two months after I got it when someone cut me off. The drivers tire was put into a curb, and bent the panhard bar. Everything was replaced, could there be something at a bad angle that they keep missing?

Well i know if things arent aligned right what happened in my case... maybe that's the problem cuz theyve replaced the gears enough that if that was the problem it would be ok by now...

I have the same issue, but mine whines with accelerator ON, stops off, between 65-75. From what I understand, these are variations of the same problem, which the TSB is supposed to fix. I'll be taking it in to be checked in a couple weeks. I'll keep you posted as to what happens. In the mean time, I'm hoping others will post with their experience regarding this problem.

My 2 month old 2006 Stang with only 3700 miles has started to whine in the rear end.
Grrrrrrgh..... [:@]
The noise gets noticable at about 30 and then louder and louder the faster I go.
The noise is very anoying at 75 mph, I was told I can continue to run it. Yeah,,
Well see.. Maybe I should tell them to put in a better type (LSD).. for the inconvienounce.

My local Ford Service guy showed me a tech pub from Ford listing the 2006 Mustang
Coup w/ 4.0L V6 having a rear end whine or noise that gets louder with the change in
speed and guess what??

Ford has a repair kit (Ring & Pinion) available. (I wonder how long Ford has had the Kit)
I have to wait for 2 weeks as this dealer has a backlog and a mechanic gone to school.. Sheesh..

I wonder if Ford can spell (Recall) ?

"Just turn on the Radio" the saleman told me.

I'll let you all know what happens after the repair in 2 weeks.

Now tell me .... why did I buy the V6 with Pony package instead of a GT ?
I wonder if I should trade it in for a GT?

this rear end FTW.

but seriously, sounds like an alignment issue to me. the recurrence of the problem sounds like a faulty install; but the consistency of it coming back worries me. have them check all of the surrounding hardware for defects, and MAKE SURE THEY PUT DIFERENTIAL FLUID IN.
