I'm not sure but I think I have the same problem and have since the car was new. My 05 GT makes a thunk noise when I cut the wheel sharply and move at low speeds. For example I back out my driveway, cut the wheel and hear a distinct thunk that sounds like metal on metal. The first few times I thought I had run over something.

What is the 800 number we all need to call and complain to?

hey craig, there's already a tsb and newly designed strut mounts that have fixed many a mustang. you may have one of several problems. the first is that there was a tsb in 2005 for 'popping' in the strut. this is slightly different than the 'thunking/chuckle' noise [although it may be caused by the same problem i don't know]. this latertsb has a different title and number. this thread is too long for me to remember where all the info is, but just look at the collection of TSBs either on this forum or one of the other mustang forums. basically, you may be covered under warrantyand get a free fix or you may have to pay for it, but at least there's an answer for you one way or the other.

I had this problem after attempting to "tighten up" all of my front suspension components. You MUST hold the end of the bolt on the front upper strut swaybar endlink mount while tightening the bolt. I just attempted to tighten the bolt w/o holding the end and it started making the sound. I think that it IS a manufacturers defect w/ the front strut. Even the SLIGHTEST bit of looseness in the upper strut mount bolt will cause the sound. I think the solution is to replace the front struts but it is kinda annoying that Ford designed something like this....

Hmm, doesn'tyour pony have the 6 year/60K bumper to bumper coverage from Ford?
Mine came with a LIFETIME warranty ;-).
Have only had to use it for thethunk TSB so far.
My ride is cherry and in perfect order thank god!
I'd hate to be in your shoes man. It would be f*kin pi*sed off about multiple problems like that! Thatkind of stuff wreaks of LEMONS to me!

My 07 GT has the same clunking noise that comes from the pass front strut. I just had Dspecs with roush springs installed by a certified ford tech and it makes the same noise. also I have a strut brace and a arm brace. It annoys the crap out of me. I live in the Detroit berbs and the roads up here are horrible ( potholes that can swallow a import!) I am moving to Wisconsin in a couple months, hopefully thier roads are smoother and I can get on with my clunk free life! I will most likely try to replace the sway bar and links with some quality parts next. Cross your fingers.

Connections in the parts dept. at the dealer I scored the updated mounts(Per TSB) and returned the defective ones when I put in my Dspecs and ProKit. Noise is gone. Its like driving a new car!
