has anyone upgraded the rear speakers?

has anyone upgraded the rear speakers?
Looks like you have to remove the rear seats and trim panels just to get to them. I was looking at the Pioneer 3 ways at best buy for about $80 a pair. I just wonder if it's a 2 hour job just to get to them. Wow what a joke........
How bad is it to do the doors by the way

The rears are very easy to replace, and the aftermarket speakers drop right in.
The doors aren't too bad either...maybe an hour each?
The Pioneers are OK, but I wouldn't bother with the 3-ways. Any benefit you would gain from the 3rd driver you will be overcome by the loss in fidelity in the crossover. Stick with a good 2-way. There are many good brands.
You should check out the availability on Ebay. You can get factory new speakers for about half of Crutchfield prices.

RE: has anyone upgraded the rear speakers?
took me 15 min to take out my rear speakers. i would allow an hr if soldering in new ones, or 45 min if crimping.
personally, being an audio installer, i am not fond in the least of having any rear speakers at all...at least if there is a really good component set up front going in. rear fill detracts from the sound staging and introduces excessive mid-bass at a skewed phase

Unless you are talking about a convertable, it takes maybe 20 minutes tops to replace the rear speakers.

RE: has anyone upgraded the rear speakers?
I replaced my stock speakers with Pioneers. the rear deck speakers were much easier to install than the door speakers. I noticed a huge difference in sound quality with the upgraded rear speakers but didn't really notice much of a difference with the front speakers. In fact, if I had to do it again, I would probably have just changed out the rear speakers and not even messed with the fronts.

Here are teh door speakers. Unless you are going to run new wiring, figure about 30 minutes per door. They aren't that bad.

RE: has anyone upgraded the rear speakers?
I did a internet search on how to remove the back speakers and a guy did a write-up on how you had to take out the seats and side panels to at them. So the speaker covers just pop off?
Thanks for the replies guys!

I believe that the rear deck speakers in the 2007 Mustangs are set up differently than in the two previous model years. In the 2007 models I read on these forums that its a big hassle installing rear speakers because of the limited space and some other factors.

I have an 06 but Isn't the window and rear deck the same? By the way I have been reading up on the pioneers and they are rated a 4.5 (of 5) by 23 people. you can pick they up for about $50 shipped on "e-prey" (ebay a pair. The stock 500 does sound pretty good to me but if you can improve it for $100, I would say you can't go wrong......
Has anyone done this and would you agree?
