Default "Breaking in" a new Mustang

Hi Everyone, I'm new to mustangforums.com so I apologize if this question has already been asked. I'm buying an '07 Mustang GT Coupe in a few months. This will be my first mustang so I'm really excited. However, within days of purchasing it new, Ihave to drive about 700-800 miles, almost all Interstate driving. I've heard conflicting reports on buying new cars and what constitutes a proper "break in" for the vehicle, including driving below 55 mph for the first 500-1000 miles, changing the oil after the first 1000 miles, varying the RPM, etc. What is the generalconsensus for the new mustangs? Thanks in advance!!

Let me be the first to say [sm=welcomesign.gif][sm=wootwoot.gif]!!! IMO you don't have to drive it 55mph but I wouldn't open it up yet. I'd stay below 80 and take it easy with the RPM's. Changing the oil after the first 1000 and then every 3 thereafter seems to be the consensus. A lot of people change to synthetic oil on the first chang also. Congrats on the new buy and again welcome to the forum. You'll find a lot of really helpful stuff here.[8D] Oh and there is a contagious disease called "modaholism" going on around here... be careful! It gets you and before you know it, all you can think about is modding your stang.

Make sure to post some pics of your new whip when you get a chance too.

this is right out of the manual
-
Try not to drive continuously at the same speed for the
first 1,000 miles of new vehicle operation. Vary your speed
frequently in order to give the moving parts a chance to break in.

not my words, but fords.
